Imminent Doom is a rune effect in Bola Shot, a Hatred-generating Demon Hunter skill.

This rune effect lengthens the explosion delay to two seconds, but improves the damage from 130% to 154% on the target, and the splash from 110% as Fire to 154% as Arcane damage.

This is the biggest damage Bola Shot rune effect against a single target or small group. The longer time delay is very noticeable on Normal difficulty, where one or two shots is usually enough to get the kill, but with all monsters requiring several seconds (at least) of damage to kill on higher difficulty levels, the extra second delay is negligible. It can even be a benefit, allowing the Demon Hunter to stack up half a dozen Bolas before they start blasting one after the other.

A wiser strategy is often to alternate other bow attacks, such as Chain Gang, in between the Bola Shots.

Development

Prior to the February 2012 skill and rune system overhaul, this effect was created by the Alabaster Rune. That runestone produced the following effect at rune level 7:

Augments the bola to deal 264% weapon damage as Arcane to the target and an additional 198% weapon damage to all other targets within 7 yards, but increases the explosion delay to 2 seconds.
