Retaliate

Retaliate is a rune effect in Fan of Knives, a Hatred-spending Demon Hunter skill attack.

This rune effect adds a powerful damage attack to nearby enemies, but one that only triggers if the Demon Hunter is hit. The utility of this for most bow-using Demon Hunters is questionable, since they are not hit very often and when they are it's generally by a ranged attack, from an attacker who is out of range of this skill.

Prior to the skill revision in February 2012, this rune effect was enabled by the Alabaster Rune, granting the following effect with a level 7 runestone:

[e] Instead of throwing the knives immediately, the knives will release automatically dealing 336% weapon damage to all enemies if you are struck in the next 20 seconds.
