Skill DesignEdit

Frenzy is an active skill. When you hit an enemy with this skill, the chance to activate the attack speed increase with a successful hit is 100%, and players who want their Barbarians to be faster than they already are with 'any' weapon, will certainly enjoy this skill.

SynergiesEdit

The following Barbarian passives provide a benefit to Frenzy, runed or not:

DevelopmentEdit

Frenzy was first seen in the BlizzCon 2008 demo as a Tier I skill in the Berserker Skill Tree. This first version was active, and increased weapon damage by 120% and attack speed by 6%, stackable three times.

The BlizzCon 2009 build changed it into a Tier III passive skill that built up as the Barbarian landed successful hits on his opponents. It provides a simple attack speed stackable buff.

By Blizzcon 2010, it had changed back to an active skill, again increasing weapon speed and damage. It was one of the Barbarian's preset skills in the PvP demo, and Flux described using it in the Battle Arena:[1]

Frenzy on the LMB was a frightful sight, especially when two Barbarians went toe to toe, stacked that on top of Wrath of the Berserker, and started hitting at eye-watering speed.

Skill tiers were removed for the July 2011 Press Event, allowing the skills to unlock steadily from levels 1 to 30. Consequently, all skill levels were adjusted and Frenzy became a level 11 skill.

BetaEdit

The Diablo III Beta started in September 2011, and while it ran, all of the skills continued to undergo extensive iteration. Skill changes varied from changing the levels the skills are unlocked, to changes in resource cost, damage, and even function. A few skills were removed altogether, and a few new ones were added. Also, the entire skill system received an overhaul with the Beta Patch 13 update in February 2012, with physical runes replaced by rune effects that automatically unlock at various levels for the different skills.

Frenzy didn't change when the beta started. With the Patch 13 changes, Frenzy was classified as a Primary skill (but stayed at level 11).

Previous VersionsEdit

See the Barbarian skill archive for more details on previous versions of Frenzy and other Barbarian skills.

In Other GamesEdit

Frenzy has roots in Diablo II. The D2 Barbarian skill Frenzy provides boosts to attack speed, movement speed, attack rating, and damage; and speeds up other skills.
