Arcane Torrent

Arcane Torrent is a Wizard skill unlocked at Level 23, hurling multiple small meteors on enemies for as long as the Wizard chooses. Or until she runs out of Arcane Power.

Arcane Torrent (Level 23)		Hurl a barrage of arcane projectiles that deal 107 - 181 Arcane damage per second to all enemies near the impact location. Cost: 23 Arcane Power per second
	Disruption	Targets hit by Arcane Torrent become Disrupted for 6 seconds, causing them to take 120% additional damage from any attacks that deal Arcane damage.
	Cascade	Enemies killed by Arcane Torrent have a 95% chance to fire a new missile at a nearby enemy dealing 50 - 99 Arcane damage.
	Arcane Mines	Instead of firing projectiles, lay Arcane mines that arm after 1 second. These mines explode when an enemy approaches, dealing 114 - 142 Arcane damage. Enemies caught in the explosion have their movement and attack speeds reduced by 30% for 3 seconds.
	Power Stone	Every missile hit has a 8% chance to leave behind a Power Stone that grants Arcane Power when picked up.
	Death Blossom	Unleash the torrent beyond your control. You can no longer direct where the projectiles go but their damage is increased to 199 - 249 Arcane damage.

Skill Design

Arcane Torrent strikes.

Arcane Torrent can be cast for as long as the Wizard wishes, with an Arcane Power cost per second, rather than per use.

Arcane Torrent now calls down multiple meteors over a wider area, much like the Blizzard spell. The key difference there might be the damage type. While cold slows and cold critical hits freeze, Arcane critical hits silence enemy casters, stopping monsters from using various spell attacks.

Presumably Arcane Torrent would be a good spell to drop on a pack of monster mages, for that critical hit bonus purpose.

Exactly where the meteors come from is of course unclear, as most places in the Diablo games have some sort of roof...

Arcane Torrent was previously named Meteor Storm.

Development

Arcane Torrent was first shown at BlizzCon 2008 when the Wizard debuted, at that point named Meteor Storm and located in the Storm Skill Tree. It was part of the Wizard presentation video, and besides having its new name and being in the Arcane Skill Tree, was completely unchanged in the BlizzCon 2009 demo.

While Arcane Torrent was in the BlizzCon 2010 demo, it was too high-level for players to select it. Skill tiers were removed for the July 2011 Press Event, and Arcane Torrent became a level 23 skill.

Previous Versions

Meteor Storm was the original name of this skill. The name was likely changed when the Meteor skill was added.
