Shadow Power is a Defensive Demon Hunter skill unlocked at Level 16. Using this enables the Demon Hunter to add considerable life leech for a short period of time.

During earlier development this skill granted a faster firing rate to the Demon Hunter, but that function was changed during the beta test.

Development

Shadow Power was first seen at the July 2011 Press Event, where it was a level 19 skill.

The initial base skill's function was:

  • Draw in the power of the shadows, increasing attack speed by 30% for 8 seconds.

Players enjoyed this greatly during early beta testing, when it provided a great short term DPS boost that most players used to devastate Leoric. This effect was evidently too powerful, and the skill was changed to its current, much-less-useful life leech form in late 2011.

Beta

When the beta began in September 2011, Shadow Power was changed to level 12. The skill system was once again overhauled for the Beta Patch 13, and Shadow Power was classified as a Shadow skill and moved way up to level 30. For Beta Patch 14, it was re-classified as a Defensive skill and dropped to level 16. Also, the "Shadow" category was replaced with "Hunting".
