Shatter Shot is a rune effect in Hungering Arrow, a Hatred-generating Demon Hunter skill.

This rune effect causes the arrow to split if it pierces the first target (35% chance). The arrow splits into three new arrows, each of which hits for full damage, and can continue to pierce and change direction, they they will not split again.

This is the weakest damage rune effect in this skill against a single target, since it adds no damage and doesn't increase the odds of piercing. It can land more than one hit on a target, but the split arrows very seldom double back to hit the initial target.

On the other hand, this is potentially the most damaging Hungering Arow effect against large groups of enemies since each shot can potentially hit numerous targets. Not just 4, since each split arrow acts like a whole new shot (except they can not split again), and can change direction and pierce through multiple enemies.

Development[edit | edit source]

Prior to the skill and rune overhaul in February 2012, this effect was created by the Indigo Rune and yielded the following effect. Note that as with many Indigo rune effects, this was the multishot rune, and the number of projectiles increased from rune level 1 up to rune level 7. The value below is for Rlvl 7.

If the arrow successfully pierces the first target, the arrow splits into 8 arrows.
