Grappling Hooks is a rune effect in Ancient Spear, a Fury-generating Barbarian skill.

This rune effect hurls three spears, each of which is capable of pulling back any target it strikes. During development, when this skill effect was granted by the Indigo rune, the number of spears increased with each level of the rune, scaling up to a maximum possible of 8. Since runestones were removed from the game the spears are capped at 3.

You can get an idea of the fan-shape of stabbing death that level 7 Grappling Hooks would have been by watching The Butcher use his version of this attack, which covers an inescapably-wide pie wedge of the screen before him.
