Nerves of Steel is a Barbarian passive skill unlocked at Level 13, which increases the Barbarian's defense based on his vitality.

Description[edit | edit source]

Nerves of Steel is a passive that focuses mostly on Barbarian's defensive aspect, giving him defense for every point of vitality. Especially noteworthy for hardcore characters as they tend to focus more on defensive stats to keep themselves alive in every possible situation.

Synergies[edit | edit source]

No synergies with any active skills or other Barbarian passives are known.

Development[edit | edit source]

Passive skills have had a long and storied history. When Diablo III debuted at the WWI 2008, skill trees included passive skills, much like in Diablo II. In 2010, it was announced that passive skills had been renamed traits and separated out from active skills. At the July 2011 Press Event, Blizzard announced that passive skills were once again in the game, replacing the traits system.

Beta[edit | edit source]

Nerves of Steel was not seen until it showed up late in the Diablo III beta as a level 12 passive. When passives were reorganized for Beta Patch 14, Nerves of Steel was moved up to level 13 and heavily buffed: the defense increase jumped from 25% to 100%.
