Strafe is an Archery Demon Hunter skill unlocked at Level 19.

The Demon Hunter spins in a circle, firing shots in all directions with uncanny accuracy. Strafe never misses, striking any monster in sight repeatedly until dead, or until the Hatred runs dry (which usually happens first, since the resource cost is quite high for this skill.)

Strafe is the single best anti-destructible skill in Diablo III, capable of taking out every single visible barrel, crate, banister, loose section of wall, etc, in a blink. (Which is good, since that's about as long as the Hatred lasts.) The shots prioritize automatically, and will all hit a single monster before any shots hit destructibles.

Strafe can be used to kill monsters, but it has a very high Hatred cost for the damage it deals, and is not a very efficient skill.

The following Demon Hunter passives provide a benefit to Strafe, runed or not:

Name Level Description

<skill class="DemonHunter">Thrill of the Hunt</skill> <skill class="DemonHunter">Steady Aim</skill>

Also, if using the Rocket Storm rune on Strafe, then the Passive skill Ballistics will boost the rockets' damage by 50%

Development[edit | edit source]

Strafe was first seen at the July 2011 Press Event, where it was a level 27 skill. Unfortunately, no information about the skill's function was available.

Beta[edit | edit source]

When the beta started in September 2011, Strafe was changed to level 19. The skill system was once again overhauled for the Beta Patch 13, and Strafe was classified as an Archery skill and moved way back to level 9. For Beta Patch 14, it was bumped back up to level 19.
