Mantra of Conviction (formerly named Dominate Aura) is a Mantra Monk skill unlocked at Level 30. The Monk activates an aura that increases damage received by enemies. Enemies affected by this skill show an orange glow under their feet and take considerably more damage than usual from all types of attacks, whether dealt by the Monk or by his allies or pets.
This is by far the most popular Mantra for the Monk, and most players elect to use it to increase their damage, unless they need one of the other Mantras to boost their defensive stats. The bonus is somewhat subtle since it does not show in the DPS display. It causes monsters to take more damage, not players to deal more damage, so the effect is not visible in the character screen. It can be seen on the damage display numbers that pop up in-game, though.

Skill Design[edit | edit source]
This skill first appeared at BlizzCon 2010. There are currently no visuals available for the skill, and no reports on it from demo players. It was revealed in the skill tree. This mantra is interesting in that it does not increase the damage the player or his party inflicts like Diablo II's Might, but it increases the damage that enemies take. Since it is a flat rate, this mantra is likely to be highly useful in Nightmare and Hell difficulties where the monsters may have high resistances to different types of damage.
Synergies[edit | edit source]
The following Monk passives provide a benefit to Mantra of Conviction, runed or not:

<skill class="Monk">Chant of Resonance</skill>
Development[edit | edit source]
Mantra of Conviction (as Dominate Aura) was first revealed at BlizzCon 2010 as a Tier 4 skill but had never been seen in gameplay.
Before the July 2011 Press Event, Dominate Aura was renamed Mantra of Conviction. Skill tiers were also removed, and Mantra of Conviction became a level 22 skill.
Beta[edit | edit source]
When the beta started in September 2011, Mantra of Conviction remained at level 22. The skill system was once again overhauled for the Beta Patch 13 in February 2012, and Mantra of Conviction was classified as a Conviction skill and moved to level 26. For Beta Patch 14, the "Conviction" category was renamed "Mantras" and Mantra of Conviction was bumped up to level 30.
