Crushing Advance is a rune effect in Overpower, a situational Barbarian skill.

This rune effect provides 4 seconds of substantial damage reduction each time Overpower is cast, which can be quite often for a Barbarian with high critical hit chance, who uses Overpower when numerous enemies are in range.

Post Release Changes[edit | edit source]

Patch v1.0.4 made no change to the base skill function, but nerf one overpowered aspect of the Crushing Advance rune effect.[1]

  • Skill Rune – Crushing Advance
    • Can no longer trigger On Hit procs.
      • Amount of damage reflected increased from 30% to 35%.

Prior to this change, this rune effect was hugely powerful when paired with Life on Hit bonuses. This worked because every time the Barbarian took damage, the effect could trigger. Since many enemy AoE effects, such as Molten, Fire Chains, or Desecrator, cause numerous proc checks per second, a Barbarian with good LoH could use this rune effect to heal, actually gaining health while basking in those sorts of damage.

In v1.0.4 this rune effect was actually increased in function, with the damage absorption increased from 30 to 35%, but the proc check was removed entirely, making it no longer super stealth effective when paired with Life on Health item modifiers.
