Chakram is a Secondary Demon Hunter skill unlocked at Level 12. This skill creates a spinning star projectile that cuts through any number of enemies and moves in a spiraling pattern, offsetting the high damage with erratic targeting.

The rate at which chakrams can be cast is determined by the character's weapon speed, and a Demon Hunter with dual one-handed crossbows can emit Chakrams at a very impressive rate. This of course causes the Hatred expenditure to increase as well, since it's fixed to a set amount per cast.

Background[edit | edit source]

Chakram in action.

The Demon Hunter slings a spinning chakram which follows a large spiral path as it moves forward. The Chakram looks distinctly two-dimensional, like a glowing ninja throwing star that's hovering over the ground at about waist height, like a killer frisbee.

All rune effects of Chakram have 100% piercing and will pass through any number of monsters. Chakrams can also travel up or down levels between areas of a dungeon and through many other obstacles that will stop arrows or most projectiles. They are stopped by exterior walls though, and can not be effectively used in narrow passageways, since the Chakrams simply vanish when they hit impassable obstacles.

  • The walls created by a Waller boss stop Chakrams.

Skill Rune Effects[edit | edit source]

See the Chakram rune effects page for a more thorough description of rune effects, or any of the individual rune pages for numbers, screenshots, blue quotes, and much more.

Synergies[edit | edit source]

The following Demon Hunter passives provide a benefit to Chakram, runed or not:

Name Level Description

<skill class="DemonHunter">Steady Aim</skill>

Development[edit | edit source]

Chakram was first seen at the July 2011 Press Event, where it was a level 9 skill. Unfortunately, no information about the skill's function was available from that event.

Beta[edit | edit source]

After the beta started in September 2011, Chakram became a level 7 skill. The skill system was once again overhauled for the Beta Patch 13, and Chakram was classified as a Secondary skill and moved up to level 12.
