Spirit generator skills are commonly referred to as "[[combos]]." These skills all have three hits, with different effects on all three and a much larger effect on the third hit. Combos can be mixed and matched, with the three hits coming from three different combos. This is useful to obtain different bonuses or debuffs, or just for fun.

Spirit Spender skills are often referred to as "finishing moves." These all expend [[spirit]] when used, and therefore must be deployed wisely and situationally, with spirit generators used in between to rebuild the Spirit necessary to fuel these powerful attacks.

Passive skills have undergone many changes during game development. As of the beta test, each character can only enable 3 passive skills in total, with the skill slots unlocked at levels 10, 20, and 30.

Passive skills replaced [[Traits]] during late game development in 2011. Many Traits were simply changed to passive skills, but some are all new. See the [[Monk traits]] page for a full list of those passives.
