Nerves of Steel is a Barbarian passive skill unlocked at Level 12, which increases the Barbarian's defense based on his vitality.

Background

Nerves of Steel is a passive that focuses mostly on Barbarian's defensive aspect, giving him defense for every point of vitality. Especially noteworthy for hardcore characters as they tend to focus more on defensive stats to keep themselves alive in every possible situation.

Description

"The trials begin with childhood; skinning ferocious beasts, climbing windswept cliffs and carrying weapons heavy enough to make a southern soldier weep. Is it any wonder that they never give ground?" - Sir Aric of Duncraig

Synergies

No synergies with any active skills or other Barbarian passives are known.

Development

Passive skills have had a long and storied history. When Diablo III debuted at the WWI 2008, skill trees included passive skills, much like in Diablo II. In 2010, it was announced that passive skills had been renamed traits and separated out from active skills. At the July 2011 Press Event, Blizzard announced that passive skills were once again in the game, replacing the traits system. Nerves of Steel was not seen until it showed up in the late Diablo III beta as a level 12 passive.
