Cape of the Dark Night.

Cape of the Dark Night is a legendary cloak that can be found in Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls. This item can only be equipped by the Demon Hunter, and will only very rarely drop for any other class.

The Smart Drop system ensures that cloaks will usually roll with Dexterity, or at least never roll with Strength or Intelligence. Any bonus skill damage will be tuned to Demon Hunter skills as well. Skills availble on this item, all at +10-15% damage are: Companion, Sentry, Spike Trap, Fan of Knives, and Rain of Vengeance.

Cape of the Dark Night properties

This item's legendary affix causes Caltrops to drop when the Demon Hunter takes hits. This can be a useful defensive buff, essentially giving the DH Caltrops for free, though it's only the base version of the skill and thus just briefly slows enemies.

  • All stats listed in the database scale up to the level of this item when dropped.
  • See the sample screenshots below to see how this item will roll at level 70.

Trivia

The name of the item seems a clear nod to Batman (AKA "The Dark Knight" who wears a cape), and the cape is black, but nothing in the legendary property or lore makes any clear Batman-related reference.
