Tal Rasha's Guise of Wisdom

Tal Rasha's Guise of Wisdom is the helm in Tal Rasha's Sacrifice item set. This is one of the most popular items in this set, and has the potential to be a good quality end game item, thanks to the inherent bonus of a socket and critical hit chance. Also, while the Intelligence is most useful to Wizards and Witch Doctors, 170-200 INT is the equivalent of 17-20% res all for other classes, which isn't a bad bonus at all.

The partial set bonuses from Tal's have long been (as of v1.07) considered by most players to be among the worst in the game. The bonuses aren't very large, and they are specific to certain types of spells, thus excluding most Wizards from most of the bonuses, and doing nothing for most other class' skills, further reducing the cross-class appeal of this set.

Lore

Tal Rasha was the leader of the Horadrim during The Binding of the Three, along with Deckard Cain's ancestor, Jered Cain. Tal Rasha sacrificed himself under Tyrael's guidance to trap the soul of Baal within himself, but was eventually overcome by Baal's evil in events seen in Diablo 2 and its expansion.

Diablo 2 featured an item set of a similar name, Tal Rasha's Wrappings, and it was one of the best sets in the game, making the D3 version one even more of a comedown.

Legacy Version

All legendaries, including set items, found before Patch 1.0.4 buffed them, are known as "legacy" items. These older legendary items have generally much lower stats than the current versions, and Legacy set items have different names than the current versions, to avoid confusion.
