Swords
Swords are a type of melee weapon in Diablo III. They can be found in one-handed and two-handed varieties. As in Diablo II, daggers are their own type of item, rather than a subset of swords.
No specific stats or names of swords have been released yet, but a full listing will be compiled as soon as the information is made available.
It seems that swords will not be a very common item in Diablo III: Barbarians seem more tuned towards axes or hammers, while Monks, Wizards, and Witch Doctors are not likely to use swords much, if at all.

1H vs. 2HEdit
Swords are found on one-handed and two-handed types in Diablo III. Barbarians can not use 2H swords in one hand at a lower damage level, as they could in Diablo II.
Shields do not seem to be as powerful in Diablo III as they were in Diablo II, so it's possible that two-handed swords will be more viable weapon choices this time around.
Class EligibilityEdit
Which characters can equip which types of swords remains and open question. During much of the early development, the mage characters, Wizards and Witch Doctors could not use two-handed swords. This seems to have changed in mid-2010, but there may still be some limitations.
