Zei’s Stone of Vengeance is a Legendary Gem findable only from Greater Rift Guardians in Reaper of Souls.

Legendary gems can only be socketed in rings and amulets worn by a character (not by a Follower) and provide dramatic and powerful bonuses that are huge upgrades over any normal gems in the game.

All legendary gems improve with upgrades to rank 50, which can only be obtained via the NPC Urshi who appears after the death of a Guardian of a Greater Rift that is not completed in time.


Gem Properties

The description of this one has proved very confusing. The damage increases .1% per gem rank AND the damage stacks up to 5x for each 10 years distance from the target. So a Rank 21 gem would deal 8% increased damage, and that would increase up to 5x, for each 10 yards between the character and the target. So at rank 21, 11-20y = 16% damage, 21-30y = 24% damage, 31-40 = 32% damage, and 41y+ = 40% damage.

Zei’s Stone of Vengeance

  • Damage you deal is increased by 6% for every 10 yards between
    you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
  • Upgrade rank grants: +0.1% for every 10 yards (+0.5% to max).


  • Rank 50 unlocks:
    • 30% chance on hit to Stun the enemy for 1 second.

Legend says this gem was crafted by Zei to torment fleeing enemies.
Other legends claim that Zei never existed.


Bliz Note: The max of 50 yards was added not because it was too powerful (even though it was too powerful), but so that you wouldn't be incentivized to stay offscreen while your pets killed everything. At 50 yards, I expect you to be in range to actually still use your skills (crazy right?).


Stats at Higher Ranks

All Legendary Gems improve from rank 1 up to rank 50, with additional stats for the primary bonus, and the extra bonus property unlocking at the maximum upgrade rank of 50.

Stats are pulled from the PTR and may differ in the final game.

  • Rank 1: Damage you deal is increased by 6% for every 10 yards between you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
  • Rank 2: Damage you deal is increased by 6.1% for every 10 yards between you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
  • Rank 3: Damage you deal is increased by 6.2% for every 10 yards between you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
  • Rank 4: Damage you deal is increased by 6.3% for every 10 yards between you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
  • Rank 5: Damage you deal is increased by 6.4% for every 10 yards between you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
  • Rank 10: Damage you deal is increased by 6.9% for every 10 yards between you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
  • Rank 15: Damage you deal is increased by 7.4% for every 10 yards between you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
  • Rank 20: Damage you deal is increased by 7.9% for every 10 yards between you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
  • Rank 25: Damage you deal is increased by 8.48% for every 10 yards between you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
  • Rank 30: Damage you deal is increased by 8.9% for every 10 yards between you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
  • Rank 35: Damage you deal is increased by 9.4% for every 10 yards between you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
  • Rank 40: Damage you deal is increased by 9.9% for every 10 yards between you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
  • Rank 45: Damage you deal is increased by 10.4% for every 10 yards between you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
  • Rank 50: Damage you deal is increased by 10.9% for every 10 yards between you and the enemy hit. Maximum 30% increase.
