Shenlong's Noble Path is an item set consisting of two Fist weapons, each of which can only be equipped by the Monk.
These two weapons are fairly popular with Monks, but come up short of the biggest damage one-handed weapons, partially since their set bonus is negligible. As such they are not generally considered truly top end gear. They enjoy more utility for Hardcore characters, thanks to the inherent LoH on Shenlong's Relentless Assault, which many Hardcore players value more highly than DPS.
Shenlong's Noble Path:
- Shenlong's Fist of Legend (Fist Weapon) (db)
- Shenlong's Relentless Assault (Fist Weapon) (db)
Set Bonuses:
With both weapons equipped:
- Increases Spirit Regeneration by 0.33 per Second
- +130 Dexterity
- Chance to hurl a ball of pure energy when attacking.
The "ball of pure energy" is mostly a visual treat, a glowing white orb that flies forward quickly and in a straight line, exploding upon impact with a monster or other solid object, or simply the air when it reaches its maximum range. (The behavior seems identical to the orb fired by the Hellfire Ring.) The damage is fairly negligible, when seen on Inferno difficulty.
Trivia
This set references the Street Fighter game series - specifically:
- its name - there is a whole legend around a "hidden" character named Sheng Long beginning with Street Fighter II ([1])
- its unique bonus - the signature ability of several characters in the series is to "hurl a ball of pure energy"
- its appearance - when worn, the set items look exactly like Ryu's gloves ([2])
ShenLong(wikipedia article) is also a dragon from Chinese mythology, and his name literally translates to "spirit dragon." Shen Long is the dragon responsible for storms and rain, an azure imperial dragon with five claws.
Gallery
Many fans have criticized the in-game visuals of these items, as they resemble red-colored "Hulk Hands"[3][4] and like other legendary items, can not be dyed (not even green) as of v1.07. (Though they can be made invisible by Vanishing Dye.)
On a Monk.
Legacy Version
All legendaries, including set items, found before Patch 1.0.4 buffed them, are known as "legacy" items. These older legendary items have generally much lower stats than the current versions, and Legacy set items have different names than the current versions, to avoid confusion.
Shenlong's Defense:
- Shenlong's Crashing Tide (Fist Weapon) (db)
- Shenlong's Endless Wave (Fist Weapon) (db)
Legacy Set Bonus:
With both weapons equipped:
- Increases Spirit Regeneration by 0.33 per Second
- +130 Dexterity
