Emeralds are one of the four types of gems found in Diablo III.
Over the first months of Diablo III, the Emerald has proven the most popular gem to upgrade, since Demon Hunters and Monks benefit from the +Dexterity, and since all classes prefer the +Critical Hit damage as the best bonus in high level weapons.
Emerald Changes
During the Beta test, Emeralds boosted Magic Find in helms. This bonus was switched back to Topaz (as it was in Diablo 2) before Diablo 3's release.
