Skill Design[edit | edit source]
Critical hits are a major component of damage dealt in Diablo 3. They're not just for physical damage any more, and critical hits of all types deal extra damage, as well as creating bonus magical effects. That said, some types seem like better bonuses than others, so certain builds of Wizards would probably benefit more from this skill than other builds.

Development[edit | edit source]
Magical Impact was first shown at BlizzCon 2008. It was unfortunately too high level to try out by the fans.
Come BlizzCon 2009, it was renamed Mighty Impact, but unfortunately still impossible to try out in the demo at the event. The major difference is that the old version was aimed at making weapon damage part of the deal for Wizards, adding a percentage of the weapon damage in the spell damage. Instead, the focus has shifted to critical hit damage.
See the latest version of the spell here.
