Skill Design

Multishot hitting cultists.

Multishot is a carry-over skill from the Amazon in Diablo II, and it functions in the same way albeit in a slightly more exaggerated form. The shot fans out into an erratic blast of bolts from the Demon Hunter's crossbows, filling a larger and larger area of the screen as it travels outward.

Development

This skill was first shown at BlizzCon 2010 as one of the originals when the Demon Hunter was unveiled. Flux relates his experience with the skill from a hands-on report[1]:

Looks awesome, and hits everything in the direction you shoot it, but high mana cost and not very big damage made it fairly impractical to use in the narrow levels of the demo. Would be awesome against like, the Secret Cow Level. Except that you'd shot 5x and be dry on mana, with all of the cows only 50% killed. [W]ould probably be much changed by runestones, as is true of almost all skills.

Graphics

An entire quiver.

Multishot is a pretty straight-forward skill, both logistically and graphically. A volley of bolts erupt from the caster's crossbows and fans out, the fan spreading larger and larger as it spans across the screen. The bolts themselves leave a trailing red glow and appear extremely sharp.
