This skill was removed from the game prior to the press event of July 2011. This is archived for future curiosity and reference. This page is not to be updated with current info; see the Monk skills page for current skill information.

Long Reach is a Monk Tier 1 skill unlocked at level 2. Using this skill the Monk is able to hit multiple enemies with each attack, providing they are within fairly close range.

This is one of two combo skills available to the Monk in the first tier. Combo skills generate spirit.

The Monk hits multiple targets in front of him, and also gains spirit points with every hit.

Skill Design[edit | edit source]

This skill first appeared at BlizzCon 2010, playable in the demo. It hits multiple targets with a shockwave.

Combo skills are essential for Monks. Combos do bonus damage, grant special properties (i.e. lightning damage and interrupt attacks on Hands of Lightning), and build up the Spirit needed to cast other skills. All combos have three stages, each progressively more powerful and flashier.

Skill Rank Table[edit | edit source]

  • Rank 1: The Monk projects lines of pure force that allow him to hit several enemies a short distance away. Deals X% of weapon damage.

Trait Synergies[edit | edit source]

Various Monk traits augment this skill. (Since most Monk skills depend on base weapon damage and probably attack speed, traits which enhance those, and not the skill specifically, are also listed here.)

  • Precision: Increase melee damage for each point in dexterity.
  • Intimidation: Increases damage done and reduces vendor costs.
  • Cruelty: Increases chance of critical strikes.
  • Weak Spot: Increases critical strike damage.
  • Rapid Strikes: Increases attack speed.
  • Frenzied Attacks: Increases chance of critical strikes as well as their damage.

Note: The current trait list is very out-of-date and will no doubt be overhauled before game release.

Skill Rune Effects[edit | edit source]

  • No rune effects for Long Reach are known.

Development[edit | edit source]

Long Reach was first revealed at BlizzCon 2010. There are currently no visuals available for the skill, but a player report by ExtraCrispy described it in some detail. [1]

The first attack was an arm sweep that sent out a little orange shockwave in a linear path. The second attack was a roundhouse kick that fired a longer, golden shockwave, and the final attack was a backflip that made a ghostly image of a spearman. I imagine it was for keeping enemies away and hitting multiple foes with one attack. I used it more than Hands of Lightning because there was no delay between the click and the first attack, which made it much more pleasant to use.

It seemed like the maximum reach was about 3 character lengths away from the monk.
