A Shattered Crown Walkthrough
Find the Blacksmith in the western edge of town and follow him to the Cellar of the Damned where you will find plagued villagers (now Ravenous Dead) and the Blacksmith's wife, Mira Eamon, who has been nursing them, albeit unsuccessfully. You will need to kill the villagers who present little problem and as Mira has herself become infected you'll need to kill her as well.
There is an achievement to be earned here if you let the Blacksmith land the killing blow so if you have pets or any DPS skill it's best you don't use them here if you want the achievement.
After you've done that he'll send you off to find his grandfather, Chancellor Eamon who guards Leoric's crown. The blacksmith has a small request to find his apprentice and tell him to get back to town.
Head to the Northwest Gate which you'll find nearby when you get out of the cellar. The gates takes you through to the Weeping Hollow. Head north to find the Cemetery of the Forsaken in which you will find entrances to three Defiled Crypts, one of which eventually leads to the Chancellor's Tomb. There is no way of knowing which one so head down whichever feels lucky. If you go down one that doesn't lead anywhere when you come across a teleporting stone (which transports you back to the cemetery) your character will say something to the effect of this not being the crypt you're looking for. If so head back up to the Cemetery and choose another crypt.
It's a little tougher down in the crypts compared to the Weeping Hollow. The Defiled Crypt is home to more Champions than you have come across and generally the mob packs are larger. Skeletons, Ravenous Dead, Hungry Corpses, Harvesters and their Imp Spawn and Retching Cadavers make up your foe.
You might run across one of two Events in these crypts, the Jar of Souls where you will see a tempting looking jar in the middle of a room or Matriarch's Bones when you will run across a ghostly woman weeping. They both have achievements attached to them. Check the links for details of what to expect when you trigger the events.
The correct crypt will have a level 2. Level 2 is very small and you will only face one mob here and that's a Superunique called Manglemaw who will bust his way through the door at the back of the dungeon. He's on his own but has a brutish melee attack so keep your distance if you can. Once he's dead head down to the tomb.
Tomb Guardian's raise Skeletons down here. Kill the Guardian's first as they are weak but they're not always easy to reach but if you don't kill them they'll just keep raising skeletons. They also attack with a ranged Arcane Orb.
Collect the crown from the altar. Chancellor Eamon will appear when you do. He's a Teleporter with Knockback and he has a soul siphon effect which will slow you. Once he's dead you can collect the crown. For this you will be rewarded with a Town Portal ability. Use this (press T) to head back to town and speak with the blacksmith, [Haedrig Eamon]].
If this is your very first character it's at this point the Blacksmith will begin working for you and you can use him to craft weapons and armor for you.
Speak to Deckard Cain for the next quest, Reign of the Black King.
