A player will need to either get around the blocking shieldmen, or kill the shieldmen to get to the archers. They may also appear with a [[Skeletal Summoner]]. It's not yet known if the shaman undead [[caster]] can cast use any sort of buffs [[buff]]s on the archers. In [[Diablo II]], the skeletal archers backed away if the player got too close, and we are seeing a limited similar pattern with Diablo III.
