Fallen Imps are the lowly warrior type of Fallen. Fiercer than they were in previous games, the Imps spawn in large mobs, but are still prone to fits of terror when another monster is killed nearby.

They can be whipped into a battle raging frenzy by Fallen Overseers, momentarily overcoming their usual cowardly nature. They can also be brought back to life by a Fallen Shaman.

Fallen in Diablo III

There are said to be six or seven or more types of Fallen in Diablo III. Five have so far been revealed.

Behavior

Fallen Imps and Overseers swarm.

Fallen were common enemies in the outdoor desert area of Act 2, as seen in the Blizzcon 2009 demo.

The Imps have been somewhat upgraded in Diablo III, with the addition of Fallen Hounds which are now the lowest, melee fighting base unit.

The behavior of the Imps is exactly what players who saw them in Diablo 2 will expect. They spawn in bunches of 3-5, often with a Shaman or Overseer nearby, and attack in a group. They still feel when another monster dies, but they do not seem to retreat for as long as they did in Diablo 2, and they're quite quick to return and attack again.

They can also be charged up by the warcy of the Overseer which turns them much more aggressive and quick. They do not run in fear when they witness a death while controlled by this bloodlust.

Development

Blizzard has not released concept art for the Fallen Imps, other than some images that were shown on a slide during the Monster and Art Panel from Blizzcon 2009[1]. Below you can see a few of the concepts for the Fallen Imp, who was referred to as the "Fallen Grunt" during development.

Lore

There is only a short description of the Fallen Imp on Blizzard's bestiary page[2].

Imps - These are the commonest of the fallen family of demons. They are the stereotypical fallen ones in look and behavior: small, red, swarming, bloodthirsty, and cowardly.

Media

There are numerous screenshots and artworks of Fallen in the Image Gallery.
