Alcarnus is a desert town in the Borderlands, located in the Kehjistan empire that is essential in the Find Alcarnus quest.

Background

400 years ago, precious ores were found in the Stinging Winds, and the Caldeum Dune Guard military outpost of Lut Bahadur got company in the wastelands by the newly built town of Alcarnus and many smaller settlements. The discovery of the Dahlgur oasis and a third town in the Borderlands made the area full of life and trade.

In later years, Hakan II has seen fit to withdraw the support of Caldeum from the wastes and leave those who live there to their own devices. At the moment, no caravan is safe and refugees from the Borderlands come to Caldeum every day.

The refugees report on cultist activities in the area and in Alcarnus.

Alcarnus is reasonably closely located to the Sundered Pass, from where help has been sent.

Alcarnus is part of the BlizzCon 2009/GamesCom 2009 demo, in where the player is sent on a quest by a lady called Asheara to find out the troubles of the city. On the way, there is also a bounty to be had from the head of a man called Husam, and other adventures.

Alcarnus is not a town, but a regular level filled with monsters. The top part of the city was unreachable in the demo. Alcarnus is full of Cultists of different sorts.
