The Withermoth appears to be a giant butterfly. It's known that this is a monster, and that it appears[1] in Act One, but it is not seen in the beta. The image and name came from data mining of the Diablo 3 beta client.

Behavior

The Withermoth is known only from a single screenshot from a Diablo III emulator of the beta client. From the lore by Abd al-Hazir we know it has some sort of explosive effect upon death.

Development

No concept art or development information has yet been released.

Lore

The withermoth is a curious phenomenon. It is tremendously large for an insect and somehow its size allows it to expel a charging force when attacked. For this reason, few have survived to study it in great detail, including many notable academics. In fact, please do not inquire further upon this subject.

Media

One screenshot of this monster has been excavated from the Diablo III beta client. As some players consider late game monsters to be spoilers, the image is not embedded in the page, pre-release.
