Volcanic Coal is no longer in Diablo III.
Volcanic Coal is the Hell quality legendary material, created by salvaging magical, rare, set, or legendary items found on the Inferno difficulty.
It can also be created by upgrading Corpse Ash material, the Nightmare difficulty rare crafting material, and itself upgraded into Fiery Brimstone, the Inferno quality legendary crafting material.
Volcanic Coal is a required material in all set and legendary Hell crafting recipes.
