The Dark Berserker are pure melee brawlers, armed with huge maces and a ferocious blood lust. Their trademark attack is a devastating two-handed smash with their club.

Berserkers are the muscle of the Cultists' evil, demon-worshipping cult. They are massive, powerful humanoids who wear hoods and loincloths and carry huge mauls, with which they are happy to bash your brains in. Berserkers have nasty, sharp teeth and three toes on each foot. Their skin is unhealthy pallid grey color.

Berserkers have a special overhead smashing attack Berserk Slam, which they telegraph by powering up their mauls with a reddish glow. Their overhead attack is highly damaging, but if you dodge it the Berserker will hit the floor so hard their maul breaks through the stone and gets stuck there. While the Berserker struggles to pull his weapon free, he is defenseless and can be killed swiftly.

Lore[edit | edit source]

The dark berserkers are considered weaker demons, but their strength is still far greater than that of any human. I have found dark spells within the cathedral, written in Archbishop Lazarus' own hand, explaining how to summon them. I pray that no other copies exist, so that this terrible knowledge will be lost forever. -- Deckard Cain

Development[edit | edit source]

The Berserker was first shown at WWI 2008 when Diablo III was first announced. It has not changed much since then.

There were Berserkers seen in the Blizzcon 2010 PvM demo, and they were huge. Only three of them were present, but they were always found in the same place, near the end of the Highlands Passage, where they defended a quest boss Cultist from the Mad Weaponmaker.
