The Skeleton King is a quest that was available in the 2008 demo.

Background
The quest start is obviously inspired by Diablo I and the Butcher quest you start right at the beginning of the game. Whether or not it will be included in the final game is unknown. It's once again a matter of defeating the mad king.
Quest Information
To get this quest you talk to When nearing the Injured VillagerTristram Cathedral (after killing the player comes across a group of zombies eating bent over something. After killing them, there is an Injured Villager laying on him)the ground.  Then With his last breath he tells you get the story of King Leoric. The quest and the quest thingy description says:  :"Descend into the catacombs and destroy the arisen Skeleton King and his army of the undead"  Then you go into the Tristram Cathedral and slaughter some monsterundeads and stuff, then there is a room where there are four huge pillars that doesn't do anything when you go to approximately the middle of the room the Skeleton King's ghost pops up and says:  :"You dare bring the warmth of life into my tomb!!?? Prepare yourself mortal to serve me for all eternity!!!!"  Then he puts his hands up and a glow in them starts then the four pillars starts a blue fire on the tops of them.
Apparently Following this event and going deeper into the cathedral's catacombs killing monsters, the player is supposed to destroy will find a room with four huge pillars. Reaching approximately the middle of the pillarsroom, at the same time there are a ghost of Leorics attacking appears and say: "You dare bring the warmth of life into my tomb!? Prepare yourself mortal to serve me for all eternity!" The king raises his hands, starting to glow, followed by the four pillars sprouting blue from the playertops.
Skeletons start to appear from everywhere, summoned by the pillars, and the player must destroy the pillars or face being overwhelmed by skeletons of different sorts.
So when the players destroy the pillars they get out of the room or something (or like the skelly's stop coming maybe) and then the players can continue their quest to kill the skelly king.
A bit further along in the Cathedral, the player finally finds King Leoric's throne room. When the player gives the crown back on the king, his ghost is summoned to the bones and he is reanimated. He laughs menacingly and Skeletons start to emerge from the sides. The player now has to keep away from skeletons and King Leorics huge mace as well as damaging and killing the boss.
The next area you see him in is where his corpse is. You are supposed to drop his crown there. If you drop the crown his ghost comes flying and goes into his corpse and reincarnates him.

Then he stands up laughs a loud: "HA HA HA!!!" and goes after the player at the same time skelly's come from the sides of the room to try to assist their master but (most often) they fail and the player kill the skelly King and completes the quest.
Here´s a vid of most of itReward==The quest in the full game will probably give some nice reward, but in the demo, players were rewarded with the message that they had completed the BlizzCon demo.
