Infernal Machine

The Infernal Machine is an end game quest feature introduced into Diablo 3 in the v1.0.5 patch. This multi-stage event requires players to find keys from special Keywarden monsters. The keys are required to craft an Infernal Machine, which can be used to open red portals to special dungeon areas where Ubers, super powered versions of certain quest bosses, must be defeated. These Ubers have a chance (increasing with difficulty level) to drop a Demonic Organ.
Once a player has collected all 3 demonic organs (4 in RoS) they can be crafted into a Hellfire Ring or (in RoS only) a Hellfire Amulet by the Jeweler.
This event and all the materials required for it are Torment only and can not be glimpsed on lower difficulty levels. The basic actions required to obtain the keys and make the Infernal Machines are identical in Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls. RoS just adds a 4th key and a 4th Uber, upping the complexity slightly.
Key (and Demonic Organ) drop odds per difficulty level:

* Torment I: 25%
* Torment II: 28%
Keywardens
In D3v2 and RoS, all Keywardens have one key they usually drop, but they have a small random chance to drop additional keys of any type. They might even drop two of the same key, from time to time.

The main perk of In Diablo 3 the Hellfire Ring Infernal Machine is the substantial increase to Experience gain, and the goal for most players is path to create a ring that's got decent stats as well, so they're not giving up too much DPS by using the Hellfire Ring instead of a Legendary or Rare ring. Followers can equip the Hellfire Ring as well, but just as with Magic Find and Gold Find on followers, they only share 20% of the bonus experience to the player. Thus a D3 Hellfire Ring on a Follower is worth 7% more Experience to the player, and a RoS HR is worth +9% Experience. * The HR is account bound and can not be sold or traded. ** It In Reaper of Souls players can be Salvaged to destroy it and retrieve also create a Forgotten Soul. * The Hellfire Ring is unique equippedAmulet so that each character can only wear one Hellfire Ring at a time, whether the D3 or the RoS type.** Initially during the RoS beta it was possible to wear an imported D3 version along with a new RoS version, but this was a bug.** Your Followers can wear one also, but not two.* There is no level requirement on See those pages for all the ring making it an ideal twink. Any level of character or Follower can wear onespecific details.

Squirt the Peddler sells the Designs that teach the Jeweler to craft Hellfire Rings. In Diablo 3 there are 4 different types of Hellfire Rings, one for each type of attribute and each plan sells for two million gold. Purchase a plan and right click on it while interacting with the Jeweler to teach him that recipe. Crafting the ring costs another 50,000 gold.

Hellfire Amulet
Reaper of Souls adds the option to create a Hellfire Amulet instead of the Hellfire Ring.

Unlike the Hellfire Ring, the Hellfire Amulet does not have any +experience bonuses (unless it rolls +exp per kill as a random secondary affix). The special feature of this amulet is the ability to add a random passive skill. This skill is selected from one of the passives on the class that rolls the amulet, and passive skills are of no benefit cross-class. A Demon Hunter can't benefit from a Monk or Barbarian or Crusader's passive, etc.

Stats are subject to change while Patch 2.1 is still in testing on the PTR.

Hellfire Amulet crating costs:
* 1 Leoric's Regret
* 1 Idol of Terror
* 1 Vial of Putridness
* 1 Heart of Evil
* 10 Forgotten Souls
* 50,000 gold

There are 3 different Hellfire Amulet designs in Diablo 3. They are identical except for the attribute selected, so just one is listed below for space considerations. The odds of rolling a passive useful to your class, and other good stats on the amulet are obviously pretty low, but the hope for slot machine style item payoffs is what keeps most players entertained by Diablo 3.
