Rift it Forward is was a popular semi-exploit involving [[Nephalem Rifts. The practice has come in for some fan criticism, but Blizzard reps have commented approvingly, so it seems unlikely to be changed the nerfedrift key or disabledcosts and ended the practice.
* Greater When it worked, the RiF system was for weaker character to open Riftsfor powerful characters, who would then allow the weaker characters to join their game and share in the Rift Guardian rewards, coming in exchange for opening up a new Rift afterwards. * Patch 2.1 look changed Rift costs from "5 keys to be impossible open a portal for everyone" to work in this way, as they require "entering a Greater Rift Key from rift costs every character in the game who wishes to enterone key". A generous player could pause before finishing to let another player(s) join This ended the game and share the rewardpossibility of RiFing, but as at least in the rewards from a Greater Rifts are timed, way it was practiced prior to that seems unlikely to happen oftenpatch.
Rift if Forward Details
The usual From RoS' launch up until Patch 2.1, Rift it Forward was a popular technique (exploit?) to share the costs of Rift Keys and rewards of Nephalem Rift completions. Patch 2.1 killed this system by changing Rift costs from 5 keys to open a rift, to 1 key per each player upon entering the Rift or Greater Rift. When the RiF system worked, the technique is was for a powerful player to solo a Rift on a high difficulty level, then to use the public or clan chat to offer spots in his game to other playersjust before he completed the rift. A weaker character or characters would join inand enter the rift, thus getting their share of the reward when Guardian's drop, plus the Rift Guardian is killed exp and gold reward for finishing the Rift is completedrift. In exchange, and then the weaker character would open up a new Rift in that game, and then exit, leaving it for the powerful playercharacter to solo, and saving him the cost of any rift keys. The  This system benefited weaker characters leave the game thenby giving them free experience, gold, and items, so as and benefited powerful characters by enabling them to do Rifts without having to remove farm for or spend their own Rift Keys. Though the multiplayer scaling up of monster hit pointsentire system is technically an exploit, Blizzard commented approvingly on it, and hope seemed to join in again once have no plans to end Rif'ing... until Patch 2.1 suddenly changed the Rift is nearly clearedrift costs and did just that.
This system benefits the weaker characters by giving them free experience, gold, and items, and benefits the powerful character by enabling him to do Rifts without having to farm for or spend his own Rift Keys. Though the entire system is something of an exploit, Blizzard has commented approvingly on it, and seems to have no desire to nerf or modify the shared rewards to make Rifting it Forward impossible.
