Staves are two-handed melee weapons with spell-casting bonuses, found in Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls. These are designed for use by Wizards or Witch Doctors, though those classes seldom use them, preferring a one-handed weapon plus an off-hand item.
During Diablo 3's development, there were initially "short staves" and "long staves." Short staves are what staves are today. Long staves were used for melee combat, primarily by Monks, and those items evolved into [[DiabosDaibos]], which are a Monk-restricted item type.
