"Stat stick" is a term used for items that add only stats, but not any unusual properties. It's generally a term of insult for [[legendary items]] that are "glorified rares" and don't change up the gameplay or add any [[legendary properties]] beyond bigger numbers.
Not all stat sticks are bad items, of course. Bigger numbers are the way to go most of the time in Diablo 3 and other ARPGs. But the ideal is that legendary items do something more or different or special.
