After his imprisonment Mephisto used his evil corruption on the Zakarum priesthood. Almost everyone was turned by his power except one; [[Khalim]] the [[Que-Hegan]] at the time.
Mephisto directed the other Council priests kill Khalim and dismember him and scatter his remains across the kingdom. Afterward [[Sankekur]] would succeed Khalim as Que-Hegan, and become the embodiment of Mephisto on the mortal Plane.
The corrupted High Council fashioned The Compelling Orb to control the rest of the Zakarum faithful and used their powers to hide the lair of their master from mortals.
