Demonic Essence (DEsDE) is a rare-quality crafting material and a commodity first added in to Diablo 3 patch v1.07. These objects have a chance to drop This material is still found in D3v2 and Reaper of Souls, but it is used only from Elitesfor level 1-60 crafting, Championsenchanting, Treasure Goblinsgem upgrading, and certain major game events (those that grant a Nephalem Valor stack)Artisan training. Above level 60, Death's Breaths take the place of DEs.
Demonic Essences have no function or use in are not created by salvaging items, and can only be found by playing the game, except as they are used in crafting recipes. They are Account Bound (may be dropped by Elites, Champions, Uniques, Goblins) and can not be traded or given to other players, though they may be sold to NPCs (for 25g). The developers' intent with DEs was to force players to play some and farm their own DEs for the new v1.07 crafting recipes, rather than simply being able to buy DEs along with all the other crafting materials requiredResplendent Chests.
It's unclear why Demonic Essences are Account Bound (BoA) and can not be traded or given to other players. The developers' intent with DEs was to force players to play some and farm their own DEs for the yellow Rare color new v1.07 crafting recipes, rather than light bluesimply being able to buy DEs along with all the other crafting materials required. They remain BoA in Reaper of Souls, like though since all other legendary crafting materials and gold are also BoA, there's no longer anything specially "you must farm them" about DEs. (Or their higher level replacement, or why they only stack up to 100Death's Breaths. )
Demonic Essence Drop Rates
Blizzard detailed the odds The drop rate for Demonic Essences were increased considerably in D3v2 and Reaper of Souls. The odds to drop in the (from valid sources) are identical for Death's Breaths and all Patch 1.0.7legendary materials notes. They are only found on Inferno difficulty levelthat drop from enemies, and can only be increased by increasing the Monster Powerdifficulty setting affects their drop ratelevel. Factors such as Magic Find or and the number of players in the game do not have no impact DEs in any wayon the DE drop rate.
The odds are as follows:* ] – 15%* Hard – 18%* Expert – 21%* Master – 25%* Torment 1 – 31%* Torment 2 – 37%* Torment 3-patch-1-07-analysis-and-full-notes – 44%* Torment 4 – 53%* Torment 5 – 64%* Torment 6 – 77%
< ==Diablo 3 classic== Demonic Essences were added to Diablo 3 in the v1.07 patch along with five new crafting recipes, all of which required 1 DE per item, and all of which could produce top quality rare items. All these recipes have since been superseded by much higher quality crafting options, but they were a big thing at the time. (The following recipes are altered in D3v2 since Tomes of Secret are no longer found in Diablo 3. * Archon Chest Armor of Vit/Dex/Str/Int:** 150k gold + 1 Demonic Essence + 2 Tomes of Secret * Archon Amulet of Vit/Str/Int/Dex: ** 100k gold + 1 Fiery Brimstone + 1 Demonic Essence + 1 Perfect Square gem* Archon Gauntlets of Vit/Str/Int/Dex: ** 50k gold + 20 Iridescent Tears (yellow) + 5 Tomes of Secret + 1 Demonic Essence* Archon Shoulders of Vit/Str/Int/Dex: ** 75k gold + 10 Tomes of Secret + 1 Demonic Essence* Archon Razorspikes of Vit/Str/Int/Dex: ** 50k gold + 30 Exquisite Essence (blue>Each ) + 5 Tomes of Secret + 1 Demonic Essence ===Demonic Essence Drop Rates=== Demonic Essence drop rates were lower in Diablo 3 classic than they are today. In D3v they were only found on the Inferno difficulty level of , and only the Monster Power will increase difficulty setting affected their drop rate. Factors such as Magic Find or the drop chance number of Demonic Essence from Elites players in the game do not impact DEs in any way. The odds were as follows:bosses according to -full-notes, with the following values:% chance increasing 10% on each higher difficulty level.
* MP 0: 15.0000%
* MP 9: 35.3692%
* MP 10: 38.9061%
</blue>
Note that the odds of one dropping increase by 10% (based on the previous value) per MP level. This ratio has been criticized by players who feel the drop rate of DEs is too low, since monster hit points and the general time to kill enemies increases by considerably more than 10% per MP level, which (some argue) makes the drop rate of DEs too low on higher MP levels.
Marquise Gems
===Utility and Availability===Demonic Essences were also required to create Marquise Gems.
Opinions differ on the value and availability of Demonic Essences, with a definite divide between rich and non-rich players.* 3 Radiant Star Gems* 20 million http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/9280218053?page=3#53gold* 10 Demonic Essence
Rich players, those with huge amounts of gold The costs to spend on crafting, feel that DEs drop create Marquise gems are much too infrequently, or just wish they could be sold or traded. After all, a player with enough gold to can buy all of the other materialsdifferent/lower in D3v2, there's no drop rate of DEs that is high enough to meet his needsthough DBs are still involved.
On the other hand, players on more of a budget can easily accumulate more DEs than they can afford to use, given the high cost of crafting each item and the impossibility of trading or selling those items to recover any of their costs.
It's often speculated that Blizzard may allow some form of DE trading, but as of v1.08 this remains only speculation.
