Lightning is one of the types of [[elemental]] [[damage]] in Diablo III. It is blue/white-tinted in appearanceand singes bodies, leaving them blackened and crackled, with small bolts of lightning playing over them. Deaths to critical hits of lightning damage causes bodies to explode into blackened chunks with a great burst of light.
Lightning damage is dealt by a wide variety of character skills and spells, and can be added to skills with [[runestone]]s. It is also a common modifier found on itemsweapons as well.
Numerous Some monsters cast Lightning-based spells or add lightning to deal lighting damage with their attacks. Bosses may manifest and it with 's commonly-seen in the [[Electrified]] boss modifierwhich sends out charges each time the boss is hit.
The Lightning resistance mitigates damage can be [[resist]]ed, as well as [[reduce]]d or [[absorb]]ed, but not [[block]]ed (except in [[Charged Bolt]] form)taken by lightning attacks.
[[Critical hits]] scored with Lightning damage [[stun]] targets for 2 seconds.

When it was in the game, [[Critical Hits]] of Lightning damage had a stunning effect on enemies. Many elemental effects, including lightning, are likely to return to Diablo III Damage Types==3 in the expansion pack, [[Reaper of Souls]].

Whats the difference between poison and disease damage?—WickedBubba
Disease has a damage debuff (both intake and output), and poison has a health debuff (regen/heal). Subject to change of course.—Diablo

Is there much difference between poison and disease? They’re both internal maladies that hurt over a period of time.—Grug
Fairly significant in their difference, but both countered with a single resistance. Damage/resists aren’t design complete though.—Diablo
