The Scroll of Wealth was introduced during early development. It was a scroll that players could use to instantly sell items from their inventory, without returning to the [[caravan]] or dealing with an [[NPC]] merchant. The purpose was to work with [[salvaging]] and keep gameplay fast and fun, giving players ways to liquidate their inventories without leaving the field of battle.
Scrolls of Wealth were seen in the Blizzcon 2010 demo, but were removed from the game during later development, and replaced by another, not-yet-revealed mechanism the Cauldron of Jordan to sell items without returning to town. Bashiok revealed this in a forum post in June 2011.<ref>[http://diablo.incgamers.com/blog/comments/town-portals-return....-sorta/ Bashiok forum post] - Diablo.IncGamers.com, June 2011</ref>  *See the [[Cauldron of Jordan]] entry.
<b>Bashiok:</b> We haven’t had those for a while, although we do have another mechanic to sell items while out and about.</blue>
No further details of that new "mechanic" have yet been revealed.
