World of Warcraft, better known as WoW, is Blizzard's other RPG, a fairly well-known and popular MMORPG.
Diablo III has taken a fair amount of design/feature influence from WoW, an issue that's often contentious amongst Diablo fans. No one denies the popularity of WoW, but by many Diablo devotees, WoW is considered an easy, noob-friendly, comical game, with a very different vibe than the darker, more gothic and gruesome world of Sanctuary. As such, anything "too colorful" (Art Controversy) or silly in Diablo III is often derided as a negative WoW influence.
Calling anything in Diablo III "WoW-influenced" is a sure way to create an active, often acrimonious debate. A few examples:
