Blizzcon 2013 was formally announced on 19th February 2013. [1] It will be held on Friday November 8th and Saturday November 9th at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.


The plan to hold a Blizzcon in 2013 was first revealed at a press conference with CEO Mike Morhaime at BWC in Shanghai on 18th November 2012. When speaking about the future of eSports in Blizzard games Mike said: [2]


We are, next year, planning to have our global finals at Blizzcon...


Tickets[edit | edit source]

Tickets went on sale on Wednesday 24th April and Saturday 27th April through the official Blizzcon website costing $175 each. There was also a limited number of tickets available to an exclusive pre-Blizzcon Benefit Dinner which could be purchased on May 1st costing $500 each (included entrance to Blizzcon).[3]


Tickets sold out fashionably quickly.[4]


Virtual tickets will be available enabling people to watch live broadcasts online. Details of those will be released closer to the event.

At the time of the press release broad details of planned events were:

  • Hands-on play time with the latest versions of Blizzard Entertainment games
  • Global finals for Blizzard eSports, featuring top pro gamers from around the world
  • In-depth discussion panels with Blizzard game developers and artists
  • Competitive and casual tournaments for players to showcase their talents
  • Community contests with great prizes (such as costume contest)
  • Commemorative merchandise based on Blizzard Entertainment’s game universes


As of Gamescom 2013 when Reaper of Souls was announced it was confirmed that a playable demo of the Diablo 3 expansion will be available at Blizzcon 2013.


Pre-show Contests[edit | edit source]

Blizzard held two pre-show contests, winners and honourable mentions to be shown at the event.[5] An Original Art Contest and Movie Contest. Both were open from 7th June to 23rd August.



Band[edit | edit source]

Pop band Blink-182 were confirmed as the act to play out the exposition on Saturday 9th November.[6]
