The term "pets" can refer to all minions, servants, helpers, NPC followers, and more in Diablo III.

More narrowly used, it refers to all summoned pets and minions, such as the Witch Doctor's Mongrels, Fetishes, and Gargantuan, the Barbarian's [[Call of the Ancients}Ancients]], the Demon Hunter's Companions, and all other creatures created or summoned by such spells.

Gold pets were summoned by the Scroll of Companion, a feature removed during beta testing.
