Torment refers to the highest six ten levels of difficulty in Diablo 3 (as of D3v2) and Reaper of Souls. There are six The game officially designates Torment levels of Torment, officially designated with Roman Numerals, but often expressed by fans while players generally use T#, much as Torment 1 - Torment 6 or abbreviated they use GR# to refer to T1-T6. The higher levels the level of Torment do not unlock any additional content; they just increase the difficulty and rewards that first become available on Torment 1. (This changed slightly in Patch 2.0.5 when some extra rewards were added for T2-T6 play.)Rift].com/blog/comments/official-diablo-3-2-0-5-patch-notes]
There were initially just six levels, Torment 1-6, until Patch 2.3 in August 2015 added Torment VII up through Torment X, to preserve some challenge in the face of power creep. There are no content changes as players move up into the higher levels of Torment. The game remains the same, but players will find more and better items and other rewards, and higher difficulty increases monster hit points, damage, experience value, gold dropped, and more. The Torment difficulties mark the real end game goal for most players. Only on Torment can the best items (Torment-only) be found, only on Torment can ingredients of the Infernal Machine drop, and the general difficulty and rewards accelerate to a pace that experienced players desire. It is can be a challenge to gear up to survive on in higher levels of Torment, especially for Hardcore players, but most players consider the struggle worth it.

* Legendary item drop rates get a special boost in Nephalem Rifts on Torment 1 and higher.
* The Infernal Machine only exists on Torment 1 and higher. The keys and organs do not drop below Torment, and the Hermit's Shack can not be entered below Torment.
* Nephalem Rift Guardians drop Greater Rift Keys on all difficulty levels. (This was changed in Patch 2.3, and previously GRKs only dropped on T1 and higher.)
* Imperial gems may drop instead of Marquise gems on Master and higher.
* There are considerable boosts to legendary drop rate in Torment 1 and higher. (See difficulty details.)

Players have put together lists with approximate values, based on PTR and Live testing. All figures are estimates based on testing, until Blizzard releases concrete numbers.   ===Legendary Drop Rate Bonuses===
Legendary items have a base drop rate which varies greatly between different types of enemies, objects, and clickables. All of those drop rates are boosted by higher difficulty levels, with a special bonus kicking in once players reach Torment 1. There are also numerous set and legendary items that can only drop on Torment 1 and higher, at level 70.

Drop rates increased 15% (cumulatively) up to Torment 6, prior to Patch 2.3.
* Normal: 0% Legendary drop bonus, 25% bonus in Nephalem Rifts.
* Torment 6: +131% Legendary drop bonus, +189% bonus in Nephalem Rifts.
Patch 2.3 added T7-T10, but no information is yet available about how these difficulty levels buff legendary drop rates. If the same 15% rate continues, the figures would be approximately:

* Torment 7: +165% Legendary drop bonus, +236% bonus in Nephalem Rifts.
* Torment 8: +207% Legendary drop bonus, +295% bonus in Nephalem Rifts.
* Torment 9: +264% Legendary drop bonus, +369% bonus in Nephalem Rifts.
* Torment 10: +323% Legendary drop bonus, +461% bonus in Nephalem Rifts.

Death's Breath
==Infernal Machine Drop Rates==Deaths Breath are required for most crafting, enchanting, and Kanai's Cube recipes. They became a much more valuable commodity in Patch 2.3, when the number of DBs was increased for most recipes, and Kanai's Cube was added to the game.
Running the Infernal Machine to obtain a Hellfire Ring is more complicated in the new system. There are now four keysDeath's Breath drop odds from elites, rather than just threetreasure goblins, and four portals with four Demonic Organs required to create golden chests:* Torment 1-5: 10-60% * Torment 6: 75%* Torment 7: 90%* Torment 8: 100% and 5% chance of a Hellfire Ringsecond DB. One benefit is that players can now specify which portal they create, so if just one Organ is needed, * Torment 9: 100% and 10% chance of a player can go after just that one, instead second DB.* Torment 10: 100% and 20% chance of simply opening a random portal and hoping to get the one they wantsecond DB.

Greater Rift Keys
Greater Rift Keys drop only from Rift Guardians. Prior to Patch 2.3 these could only drop on Torment 1 and higher. They can now drop on all difficulty levels, though only to level 70 characters, and very rarely below the Torment difficulties.
* Normal - Torment 5: 1-60% (increasing.
* Torment 6: 80%
* Torment 7: 90%
* Torment 8: 100%
* Torment 9: 100% (5% of a 2nd GRK.)
* Torment 10: 100% (10% of a 2nd GRK.)

Horadric Caches
Number of Horadric Cache materials per cache. (Bonus Cache doubles the total.)
* Normal, Hard, Expert: 1
* Champion, T1, T2: 2
* Torment 3-6: 3
* Torment 7-10: 4

Chance of Horadric Cache special legendary items:
* Normal, Hard, Expert, Champion: 1-20%
* Torment 1-5: 25-50% chance (increasing)
* Torment 6: 100%
* Torment 7: 100% + 5% chance of 2nd cache legendary
* Torment 8: 100% + 15% chance of 2nd cache legendary
* Torment 9: 100% + 33% chance of 2nd cache legendary
* Torment 10: 100% + 75% chance of 2nd cache legendary

Infernal Machines
Infernal Machine drop odds (only from KeyWardens, drops changed from Keys to Machines in Patch 2.3).
* Torment I: 25%
* Torment II: 28%
* Torment V: 43%
* Torment VI: 50%
* Torment VII: 60%
* Torment VIII: 70%
* Torment IX: 80%
* Torment X: 90% (Double machines are not uncommon.)
The new system has stingier drop rates for Keys from Key Wardens and and Demonic Organs from Ubers. These do not drop at all until at least Torment 1, and max out with a much lower drop rate than the 100% possible in MP10 in Diablo 3 vanilla. The best strategy is for players to farm keys and organs in parties; each Keywarden and Uber has a drop check for each player, and everyone in the game can use the same portal to the Ubers, thus 4 players each with 4 keys could do all 4 portals in the same game.
Demonic Organs
Demonic Organs drop odds (only from Ubers as part of the Infernal Machine event):
* Torment 6: 1 or sometimes 2
* Torment 7: Usually 2.
* Torment 8: 2, sometimes 3
* Torment 9: 2 or usually 3
* Torment 10: Usually 3
Infernal Machine Drop Rates
==Crafting Patch 2.3 reworked the Infernal Machine, changing the KeyWardens into "MachineWardens" who now drop the Machines directly. Previous, players had to accumulate 1 of each of the 4 keys and Materials==convert those into each type of Infernal Machine.
Legendary Materials and Death's Breaths get a KeyWarden drop rate rates (A bonus in higher difficulty levels. These figures were correct for Reaper of Souls v2.0.3. In Patch 2.0.4 legendary material key will sometimes drop rates were boosted to match exactly the drop rates of Death's Breathsrandomly. )
The following figures are simply for archival interest.* Torment I: 25%* Torment II: 28%* Torment III: 33%* Torment IV: 38%* Torment V: 43%* Torment VI: 50%* Torment VII: 60%* Torment VIII: 70%* Torment IX: 80%* Torment X: 90%
* Normal: 15% chance of Death's Breaths, 5% chance of Legendary Materials.* Hard: 18% chance of Death's Breaths, 6% chance of Legendary Materials.* Expert: 21% chance of Death's Breaths, 7.2% chance of Legendary Materials.* Master: 25% chance of Death's Breaths, 8.6% chance of Legendary MaterialsAll Infernal Machine drops are global; i.* Torment 1: 31% chance of Death's Breaths, 10e.4% chance of Legendary Materialsevery player in the game will have a machine drop (or not) whether they are in the area or not.* Torment 2: 37% chance of Death's BreathsPlayers split farming should call out to others if a key drops or not, 12.4% chance of Legendary Materials.* Torment 3: 44% chance of Death's Breaths, 14.9% chance of Legendary Materials.* Torment 4: 53% chance of Death's Breaths, 17.9% chance of Legendary Materials.* Torment 5: 64% chance of Death's Breaths, 21.5% chance of Legendary Materials.* Torment 6: 77% chance of Death's Breaths, 25.8% chance of Legendary Materialsand wait for others to teleport in if they found one.
