He comes back when returned to the adventurer reaches adventurers in the [[Pandemonium Fortress]], the last bastion before [[Hell]], to offer his protectionsome assistance.  When it was clear that Baal had permanently corrupted the [[World Stone]], Tyrael decided that the only thing he could do for is was to destroy it. The destruction left [[Mount Arreat]] to nothing more than a crater, and put a devastating blow on the [[Barbarian]] tribes, who saw it as their life duty to protect the World Stone.  Tyrael has been missing for the last 20 years, and none has heard anything about him.
