The Cauldron of Jordan is a UI element designed to replace the now-defunct Scroll of Wealth function.
The Cauldron of Jordan is awarded from a quest very early in the UIgame, which allows players to sell items while in the field for vendor cost. The item can be sold anywhere, at any point in time, and the player will receive the full sell price as listed on the tooltip of the itemin question.
The Cauldron of Jordan is awarded from a quest early in the game, which allows players to sell items while in the field for vendor cost. Specifics on this are not know, as an example, will the player get the full item value as if they returned to town, or will there be a depreciation?
Not much else is known currently about the Cauldron. It was announced during the late-July press event in 2011.
Much like the Nephalem Cube, the Cauldron of Jordan is not an item that sits in the player's inventory, like the Horadric Cube of yore. It is now a user interface element that appears near the paperdoll in the inventory pane.

To use the Cauldron, the player simply needs to open their inventory, click on the icon for the cauldron, and then click on an item to sell. However, if they want to sell multiple items, then the player may click on the cauldron, hold down shift, and then click on numerous items to sell, without having to click on the cauldron numerous times.

Less clicking, less carpal tunnel. Crucial for a Diablo game.
