User talk:Azymn
Welcome
Hello! I think this might be the first talk page message in the wiki, and I'm doing it =D Anyway, good initiative with the DiabloWiki Crew, feel free to help expanding that as well as other things. What do you think about Help:Structure btw? any input is welcome, but I won't promise I'll change much ;)
Obviously, some categories are still missing, it will be a continuous work in progress. --Leord 14:27, 15 August 2008 (CEST)
Categories vs Articles
Hi Leord, nice of you to drop by. =]
I'm glad you brought up Help:Structure - I think it's a great idea and it's coming along nicely. One of the grey areas for me is defining where a categories and articles overlap, since Categories seem more like tags than articles. A specific instance of this is whether Category:Weapons should contain the article Weapons. I guess in general (and it looks like this is what you're doing with Help:Structure), we need to define where a category stops and articles start for some of the high level concepts. Other examples of this are Armor, Classes, Acts, etc.
Also, I think Help:Structure should (someday) be formalized as the official Sitemap. That way people could jump in and browse by Category from a high level starting point on one page. Thoughts?

- Hi, I missed the reply =) I need to get used to talk on talk pages again, haven't used that properly since Hellgate... Sad memories.. Anyway, I am going to make a categories page soon, where it explains what a category is and how to use it. You can see it as half a sort of folder and half a sort of tag, indeed. As an answer to your question, I'd say that a "weapons" article definitely should be in the Weapons category, and same goes for everything else. Mind you that "Weapons" probably also will have subdirectories such as "One-handed weapons" etc. I'll get more into formatting later, but generally a wiki article is one capital and the rest lower case. Like "One-handed weapons" will be. Exception is if the article name is also a title, such as Grand Admiral or something (probably not an article we will create).
- The Sitemap is a very good idea, that I didn't think of. It will probably be similar, but with links to articles instead of categories. Well, perhaps one or two categories, but I like it when visitors get the best possible view of things.
- Anyway, feel free to pitch in in regards to fill out all the lore an other pages with some skeleton info, but don't forget the stubs. ;) Add the stub at the bottom, over the categories. We might want to change the stub template to be less "dominant" on pages as well... --Leord 17:45, 18 August 2008 (CEST)
