Tamrend
Tamrend is a Fan Fiction Writer that writes Fan Fiction for the Diablo Community
Background
Tamrend was a fan fiction writer back in the days of the old lost original The Dark Library back before the great crash of 2003 that made the website lose all its data. Since then he began reposting his old chapters on the fan fiction forums and continues to add new installments to the story The Key.
Autobiography
My real name is Scott Dysart. I am a 32-year-old database developer and programmer and recently started working for J.P. Morgan Chase. I am coming up on ten years of marriage, with three of my own children, plus a stepson. At 6'7" tall, my height is always the first thing people notice about me. I am a libertarian and disdain politics while taking an avid interest in economics.
What drew me to writing was my love of fiction combined with a fascination for language. In the fourth grade, I read the first book that I truly enjoyed, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and fantasy has been a favorite genre for me ever since. In the sixth grade, I would read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, then go on to discover Ray Bradbury. By then, I was irrevocably hooked, and devoured new works at every opportunity, usually going through every book I could find by a particular author before switching to a new one.
From my early teens onward, I dabbled in writing, but the watershed moment for me came in my junior year in high school, when I was given an assignment to write the story of Beowulf from the perspective of the monster, Grendel. I wrote the story, not thinking much of it, except that I enjoyed it much more than most writing assignments. One quirk with this teacher is that he always had students read their assignments in front of the rest of the class. What I remember about that day is that, when I finished, the entire class was silent. I had completely captivated them. Afterward, feeling strangely giddy, I realized that this was something I wanted to do.
Incidentally, the name "Tamrend" comes from some experimental interactive fiction that I was involved in about twelve years ago, when I was in college. Tamrend was a powerful water mage who had stopped aging when he was twelve. I still have fond memories of Tamrend, Mute, Tasifelle, Gulrik, Shavrina Titheran, Chiren, Windsong, and others whose names I have forgotten, along with the characters of other authors they interacted with. Mute, Windsong and Tasifelle, in particular, are, I feel, deserving of novel treatment, and I hope one day I can write something that will do justice to those rich characters.
