Phil Shenk was the Lead Character Artist for Diablo II, and contributed some character art to D2X, before leaving Blizzard North. Phil was reunited with the Diablo 2 guys at Flagship Studios, where he was one of the 9 co-founders and a designer on Hellgate: London.

His name lives on in Diablo II, given to the monster Shenk the Overseer.
