Jace was one of the fifteen mercenaries under the service of Captain Kentril Dumon in the novel Diablo: The Kingdom of Shadow.

The mercenaries escorted Quov Tsin the vizjerei in his quest to find the fabled lost city of Ureh in Mountain Nymyr.

Near the end of the novel, Jace and the remaining six mercenaries suffered an ill fate. As they reached the gates of Ureh to depart, the illusion of the cheering people of Ureh disappeared and instead hordes of dry husks for bodies with a gaping hole for a mouth surrounded them and stripped their face and body skin with their maws. They died by hungry unliving men who ate the mercenaries' flesh.
