The Character level or Clvl is the level of experience a character currently has. It usually relates to how much power it has in general, and also how much damage certain skills will deal.
New characters start at level 1 and progress towards level 60 by earning experience which is gained from killing monsters and completing quests.
The expansion pack, Reaper of Souls, will introduce a further 10 character levels.
